A garden venue behind a gate in Biltmore Village, and the photographs we made there.
The venue
About Haiku I Do
Haiku describes itself as Asheville's hidden garden wedding venue, "tucked behind the gate in historic Biltmore Village," at 26 Sweeten Creek Rd, Asheville, NC 28803 (Haiku's wedding packages). It is a collection of gardens, koi ponds, indoor rooms and lounges, so a wedding can move from one area to the next instead of staying in one room.
What the venue publishes:
- Capacity. The Zen Garden & Chapel package is for up to 150 guests. Micro-weddings are for up to 60 guests (package page).
- Spaces. Zen Garden, covered chapel, cascading deck, Jungle Room, koi pond and canopy, bar and lounge, fire pit, a private dressing suite and a 1961 Airstream dressing lounge.
- Weather. The Jungle Room and chapel are described as indoor options for bands, dancing and weather-backup ceremonies. The Jungle Room seats up to 100 for ceremonies (venue map). The FAQ says Haiku books a tent, rain or shine, for parties of 75 or more. The package page says a tent may be required over 70 guests, so ask the venue which number applies to you.
- One wedding per day. The FAQ says multiple weddings are not booked at the Zen Garden and Chapel on the same day.
- Vendors and sound. You can use any vendor you like at no extra charge, and Haiku gives a suggested list after you book. A day-of coordinator is included, and the garden is wired for sound.
Prices change, so ask Haiku for its current packages.

What to know about photographing here
Getting ready
The venue lists a private dressing suite, an Airstream dressing lounge and two private getting-ready spaces on its package page.
More than one backdrop
Haiku is a set of separate gardens and rooms, so for us the planning question is where the day happens and when.
Planning
Planning tips for a Haiku wedding
Get the venue map
Ask Haiku for the venue map PDF and walk the property on your tour with a timeline in mind.
Build back from the music
The venue says an event of 50 or more guests needs a band or DJ, and it follows the City of Asheville noise ordinance for end times. Build your timeline backward from that.
Keep portrait areas clear
Tell your coordinator which areas you want kept clear for portraits.
