A smaller guest list means every face matters. We make sure each one ends up in the story.

What makes a micro wedding different

Fewer people, more of each one

A micro wedding is not a smaller version of a big wedding. It is its own thing. With thirty or forty people in the room, the toasts get more personal, the dinner table becomes the center of the night, and everyone actually gets to talk to you.

That changes how we photograph. At a big wedding there is always a crowd shot to fall back on. At a small one, the photographs are made of individual people: your grandmother's hands during the vows, your best friend losing it during the toast, the kid under the table. We work quietly and pay attention to all of them.

Smaller weddings also tend to be more relaxed about time. We use that. Portraits can happen in a few short, unhurried breaks instead of one long block that pulls you away from your guests.

Coverage

How much coverage does a small wedding need?

Less than you might think, and more than an elopement. Many intimate weddings fit comfortably into a few hours: getting ready, the ceremony, family photos, portraits, dinner and toasts. If there is dancing you care about, we stay for it.

We build every quote from your actual timeline rather than a fixed package, so you are not paying for hours you will not use. On the discovery call we sketch the day together, and you get a quote that matches it. Intimate wedding coverage is quoted on a short call. Full wedding collections start at $2,400.

Every collection includes 50+ professionally edited images per hour of coverage, full printing rights, a high-resolution online gallery, and secure multi-location backup of your photos.

Small venues we know

Where intimate weddings happen around Asheville

Some of our favorite days have been at smaller venues. We photographed a styled shoot at Haiku (Haiku I Do) in Asheville's Biltmore Village, which offers micro-wedding packages for up to 60 guests alongside its larger garden and chapel packages. Its spiral stair, chapel and garden give you a lot of variety in a small footprint, which is exactly what a short timeline needs.

We also photographed Maya and Jeff at Weaver House in Weaverville: bamboo, carved wood doors, and an intimate reception where the dance floor was close enough to touch.

Restaurants, private homes, cabins and family land all work beautifully too. If you have found a spot, we will work with it. If you have not, we are happy to share what we know.

“I don’t remember seeing them take half of these, but I’m so glad they did! Brennan fit into our wedding so naturally that I barely noticed him snapping away, until I saw the final gallery and was completely blown away.”

Tips from experience

Making a small wedding feel full

  1. Give family photos a short, fixed slot

With fewer people, the family list goes fast. Ten to fifteen minutes is usually enough, and then everyone gets back to the party.

  2. Plan portraits near golden hour

A twenty-minute walk in the last good light of the day gives you the most cinematic frames for the least time away from guests.

  3. Let the table be the stage

At a long dinner table, the best moments happen during toasts and conversation. Make sure the room has some warm light and we will do the rest.

  4. Skip what you do not care about

No bouquet toss? No problem. A small wedding is the perfect excuse to drop the traditions that do not feel like you.

FAQ

Questions couples ask us

What counts as a micro wedding?

There is no official cutoff, but most people mean a wedding of roughly 50 guests or fewer. Below about ten guests, it starts to look more like an elopement.

How much does a micro wedding photographer cost in Asheville?

It depends mostly on hours of coverage. Intimate wedding coverage is quoted on a short call. Full wedding collections start at $2,400, and most couples spend between $2,800 and $3,600. Every quote is built from your actual timeline. See pricing for what is included.

Do we need a second photographer for a small wedding?

Usually not. One photographer covers most intimate weddings well. A second shooter helps when two things happen at once, like both partners getting ready in different places, and we can add one if your day calls for it.

Which Asheville venues work well for micro weddings?

We have photographed a styled shoot at Haiku (Haiku I Do), which offers micro-wedding packages for up to 60 guests, and an intimate wedding at Weaver House in Weaverville. Restaurants, rental homes and private land can be lovely too. Ask us and we will share what we know.

Will you help with our timeline?

Yes. Timeline help is part of every booking. We will help you place the ceremony, family photos and portraits so you get the best light and the least waiting around.
